The Norrköping Light Festival – Let there be light!

With the help of product sponsoring from HellermannTyton, the Dutch-based design office Serge Schoemaker Architects & Digiluce created an awe-inspiring installation entitled Alley of Light for the Amsterdam Light Festival in 2015. This unique work of art is on show for a second time and is now lighting up the winter months of December and January at the Norrköping Light Festival in Sweden.

 

 

This winter, a town in the Östergötland province of Sweden, is lit up like never before. The Norrköping Light Festival, which is taking place in collaboration with the highly successful Amsterdam Light Festival, runs from December 2015 to 31 January 2016.

The light installation by Serge Schoemaker Architects & Digiluce is one of eight spectacular works of art from different artists around the world.

 

 

Handcrafted to perfection

Alley of Light is a three-dimensional matrix consisting of close to 2,000 LED lights. The construction is 4 meters high and 12 meters long. In the centre is a long narrow passage that you can walk through surrounded by thousands of lights that continuously change in intensity.

The design team used high quality adhesive-lined HIS-A transparent heat shrinking tubing and our professional hot air gun H5004 to apply it.

 

Thousands of UV-resistant Q50R cable ties are needed to fasten the lights securely in the correct place on the frame.

Alley of Light demonstrates how light can help to build something from nothing and how technology can be beneficial to art.
